Though I'm trying to shield myself from the political environment in order to save my sanity, some recent events are too startling to go unnoticed:
(1) A year ago today, after meeting with Trump's defense attorney Todd Blanche, Ghislaine Maxwell was transferred from a maximum-security to a minimum-security prison. We still, however, have no explanation for the privileged treatment of the world's most notorious living child sex trafficker, nor do we know who signed off on the highly unusual transfer. Maxwell has additionally requested a pardon, which Trump is currently contemplating.
(2) The Epstein Files Transparency Act required that all the Epstein files be released on or before 12/19/2025. The DOJ has still not released the files, and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche--see previous paragraph--has indicated that no more files will be released and there will be no further investigation concerning Epstein's sex trafficking ring. Thomas Massie, who spear-headed the Transparency Act, was voted out of office by Trump loyalists.
(3) Finally, at Trump's prompting, the DOJ indicted David Hearn with felony destruction of property concerning the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The charges, however, were dropped when an internal investigation determined that the damage resulted from shoddy workmanship, not vandalism. Though prison is no longer in the cards for Hearn, his reputation has been severely damaged.
These events should agitate all of us! It's important for everyone to remember that politicians answer to us! The lack of transparency, whenever it occurs, needs an explanation!
